Plan poprawy zdolności myśliwca T/FA-50 z prezentacji KAI

 W maju tego roku w Korei Południowej odbyło się „Air Force Power Development Seminar”. Koreańskie Siły Powietrzne miały problemy ze starymi myśliwcami, takimi jak F-4 i F-5. Zaproponowano takie rozwiązania, jak dodatkowy zakup F-35A i dodatkowa produkcja FA-50 i KF-21. Wśród nich była prezentacja KAI na temat poprawy wydajności FA-50 i poczułem potrzebę przetłumaczenia jej zgodnie z zakupem FA-50 w Polsce.

Operational status of T-50 series aircraft (:Korea Południowa)

T-50(Advanced Jet Trainer) First delivery: 2005 (+18y)

T-50B(Advanced Jet Trainer) First delivery: 2010 (+13y)

TA-50(Lead-in Fighter Trainer) First delivery: 2011 (+12y)

FA-50(Light Combat Aircraft) First delivery: 2013 (+9y)

Operation status:

 The T-50 series operates about 140 units, including Variants

 Airframe design life approximately 8300 hours(200 hours/year)

 Maintain operation rate of 10% or more compared to overseas introduced aircraft

☑ 75 unit exports abroad. Export negotiations are underway with many countries

Need to improve performance - Expanded FA-50 mission

Poor FA-50 capability as a Low-class fighter

Operation status:

 FA-50's lack of ability to perform some of its missons

- Offering defense, Precision strike, Radius of action restriction

- Can be equipped with old and discontinued armaments

* Air to Air: AIM-9L/M/N/P/S(discontinued)

Air to Surface: MK-82(old), AGM-65, WCMD

 Performance improvement needed to secure flexibility in aircraft power operation

- High-Medium class mission expected to be partially transferred, but capability limited

Improvement plan:

 Reinforcement of Tribal Capabilities

- Offering Defense: Medium-range Air-to-Air Missile, AESA Radar

- Precision strike: SNIPER POD and GBU-12, GBU-54

- Radius of action: 300G/L tank, Aerial refueling, Rear fuselage modification

 Securing new Armament capabilities

- Short-Medium range Air-to-Air Missile, Medium range Air-to-Surface Missile, etc

- Expanding armed mounting capabilities, etc

Effective response to the expansion of alternative missions and increased threats from neighboring countries due to the elimination of old fighter jets through performance improvement

When to start the program

☑ Start performance improvement 20 years before/after deployment

- KF-16(25 years after deployment), F-15K(19 years after deployment)

- FA-50: Life time(40 years), MLU(Mid-Life Upgrad) required when mid-life time is reached(20 years after deployment) * designed life time (8300 hours), Average annual flight (approximately 200 hours)  Life time(approximately 40 years)

(T-50) Launch MLU is goal at 2025, Program preparation period of 5 years, Determining the Proposals at 2020 → Urgent request for proposals for 2022
